Katy Perry shot down rumors that she and Orlando Bloom had broken up, praising him for helping her overcome sadness.
The 37-year-old singer and the Lord of the Rings star have been dogged by rumors of a split since the Firework singer was seen without her engagement ring and then attended the Met Gala solo earlier this year.
In a recent interview, she showered praise on the 45-year-old, saying the ‘gentle’ actor has been a big help amid her mental health issues.
“Every time he enters into a room, he has this joie de vivre about him, and some people wonder, ‘What is this guy on?'” During an appearance on Dear Chelsea, Katy said.
“He’s just got this joyful, positive energies,” she explained, “and I’m a little bit more heady and prone to depression in certain respects, so it’s wonderful for me to be around him because he pulls me out of my brain a little bit.”
Katy and Orlando have a one-year-old daughter named Daisy Dove, and she admitted that she didn’t want to be a mother at first since she wasn’t maternal.
Katy Perry stated, “I wasn’t really maternal and I think that maybe originates from some childhood problems,” calling being a mother “the best decision I made in my entire life.”
She joked that she “must breed” with Orlando after seeing him with his son Flynn, 11, whom he shares with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.
“With his first child, Flynn, who is now 11, I got to see what a terrific dad he was.” So that absolutely influenced me – something inside of me whispered, ‘You’re in your mid-thirties.’ This gentleman is pleasant. ‘Must reproduce.’ She explained, “He’s a kind guy.”
When she was seen on the set of American Idol sans her massive diamond and ruby engagement ring, which the actor had proposed to her with in February 2019, it fuelled rumors that she and Orlando had broken up.
She then skipped the famous Met Gala in New York earlier this month, leading to suspicions that the couple had broken up.
