Kendrick Smith’s Rapid Rise to the Top of the Entertainment Scene

People often say it only takes one moment to change somebody’s life forever; for the talented actor Kendrick Smith, his journey in creating a thriving career in the entertainment scene started when one of his dear friends showed him the wonders of the performing arts.

The Memphis, Tennessee native has graduated from one of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the area, LeMoyne-Owen College, where he also became a member of the Omega Phi Psi fraternity.

Initially, he had no plans of getting into the acting scene; however, after one of his fraternity brothers introduced him to the craft, he quickly fell in love with it. From then on, the dynamic individual became a bonafide advocate for the arts.

One of Kendrick Smith’s earliest experiences with acting was as a background extra for Sean Penn and Benicio del Toro’s movie 21 Grams. Despite only having a minor role in the project, it created a lasting impression on the young actor and helped develop his appetite for film and TV.

As a result, he started to hone his skills and enrolled in acting classes taught by Red West, a veteran actor and close confidant of Elvis Presley. Additionally, he now resides between Houston and Atlanta to pursue his flourishing career.

Since his early days in the industry, the gifted actor has appeared in several notable roles. He appeared as Detective Gibson on the All-Black Network television series 5th Ward. In addition, he was part of the 2017 movie Candy, where he played the role of Soso. Esteemed music video producer Mr. Boomtown / Nahala Johnson produced the film, and its second installment is already in the pre-production phase. He has also worked with acclaimed producer Jerry Bruckheimer on his NBC TV series, Chase and the Dirty 3rd Next Generation, executive produced by Derrick D. Wreck Dixon and directed  by Mr. Boomtown.

On top of that, he has recently finished shooting for the first season of BMF or Black Mafia Family, which is slated to appear on the cable network Starz. Kendrick Smith has a co-starring role on the project, produced by hip-hop legend Curtis Jackson, more commonly known as 50 Cent. One of Kendrick’s most notable accomplishments was being named one of Houston’s Top Actors of 2021.

His most recent, and perhaps one of his most significant projects, is currently in pre-production. He is set to appear in the biopic Wide Open: The Andre Rison Story based on the life of the extraordinary athlete and football player. He will have a supporting lead role in the film produced by Derrick Handspike and directed by Jerry D. May.

Undoubtedly, the multi-talented man’s career has hit the ground running and is gaining a lot of momentum. This impressive accomplishment can be attributed to his expertise and passion for his craft alongside his motivation to become successful for his beloved son.

In the future, Kendrick Smith hopes to continue the upward trajectory that his career is on. He sees himself becoming a franchise name in the entertainment industry, working with distinguished directors and producers. Furthermore, the dedicated man plans to continue developing different layers as an actor.
