Misha Collins Secures ‘Gotham Knights’ Role as Convinced by Son
Misha Collins takes a “two-faced” role in Gotham Knights after his son convinced him to play the Batman villain. Collins, best known for his role as Castiel in the long-running TV series Supernatural, is set to take on a new challenge in the latest TV show addition from DC, Gotham Knights. In an unexpected turn of events, the actor will play the role of Two-Face, the infamous villain from the Batman comics.

Initially, Collins did not want to play the role only because his sons were in Southern California. The production requires him to be in Toronto and Atlanta, away from his children, for possibly a long time. However, the “Supernatural” actor finally wrapped his mind around the idea and took the opportunity as his children asked him to take the role.
Collins initially had reservations about playing a villain, but his son convinced him to take on the role. “My son in particular — who knows well who Harvey Dent/Two-Face is — I said, ‘You know, I’m gonna be filming in Atlanta, and I’m gonna be gone a lot if I take this job.’ And he was like, ‘Do it.’ And I was like, ‘Well, honey, listen, I’m not gonna be able to be around as much.’ And he said, ‘Dad, do it, please,’” the Roadfood host recalled.
However, after reading the script and learning more about the character, Collins changed his mind. He said he was drawn to the complexity of Two-Face’s nature, allowing him to explore the duality of good and evil. Collins added that playing a villain was a refreshing change from his usual roles and allowed him to flex his acting muscles in a new way.
“He was so eager for me to take the role, and it actually hurt my feelings,” Collins jokes. “He thought it was cool enough that it totally trumped wanting to spend time with his father. I think both of them are harboring some excitement about maybe potentially having some small feeling that their dad is in one way cool for the first time.”
Introducing Two-Face
As one of Batman’s most infamous villains, Two-Face gets introduced in Gotham Knights before he loses touch with reality. Collins will first play Harvey Dent, a detective trying to solve the Bruce/Batman murder. Along the way, Dent questions Turner’s significance in the murder, putting him in trouble.
“Harvey Dent, in the very first episode, is trying to take Bruce Wayne’s adopted son [Turner Hayes, played by Oscar Morgan] under his wing and figure out how to protect him in the wake of his father’s death — and that particular goal is upended very quickly when [Turner] is accused of murdering his father,” Collins teased.
“That investigation is encumbered by the fact that I, [as] Harvey Dent, I’m starting to see cracks in my psyche,” the actor revealed. “I’m experiencing gaps in time and memory lapses and don’t quite know what’s happening. So, as my greater world unravels with the discovery that my best friend is Batman, my inner world is also unraveling, and I’m desperately trying to cling to my sanity.”
Conclusion
Unlike the other DC villains, Harvey Dent will not instantly switch identities. “Traditionally, the character has been presented in this slightly complicated light where he is physically disfigured in this one traumatic event, and then that causes him to become insane, but not only insane [but also] evil,” Collins states. Gotham Knights went live on March 14 and will continue until announced.
