Musician Chris B Reveals the Adversity and Challenges He Overcame to Build His Brand

Christopher Anthony Berry, also known as Chris B, has lived by the mantra, “Grind Hard & Never Give Up” all his life and presently, it’s paying off for him as his music is gaining momentum and traction. The California-born musician started his musical journey as far back as when he was 8. The thing that was a way of expression and emotional release has now become a career he’s passionate about. Over the last two decades, Chris B has released 17 singles and five albums, and according to him, the journey continues

With his style and relatable rap that have stayed fresh over the last two decades, Chris B has received his flowers and respect. He was published in Hip-hop Weekly Magazine and XXL Magazine. He also released his popular hit “Only Human,” featuring Krizz Kaliko and collaborated with Strange Music. His single, “I Don’t Even Know,” amassed more than 1.2 million views on Facebook amongst many other accomplishments.

Before he became famous, after his first album was released in 2002, his mother suffered from a serious drug addiction that made social services take Chris away. He returned home, but the situation with his mother never changed, and Chris had to begin to fend for himself. He got caught with the wrong crowd and was sent to juvenile hall. Upon getting out, he started working on straightening his life, but it wasn’t long before he got into trouble again, and that continued for some years. By 2010, music had become an escape point for him, and he started earning from performing.

Despite his accent and discouragement from people, performing on stage was the most enjoyable part of creating music. Chris never paid attention to the discouraging remarks but rather focused on entertaining his fans and putting his unique voice to the best use. “Knowing that people liked me and my unique voice helped me to realize that this was the path I wanted to pursue. I’m now more dedicated in my music than ever to take control of my future, provide for my family and keep growing until I hit the top,” he says.

Chris B never thought music would turn out to be the way out of his turbulent childhood. He only loved the fact that he could sing; he never thought about the business aspect. In 2021, he has found himself exploring his versatility by trying out different sounds, genres and lyrics styles. Chris B has songs based on party, club, love, motivational and inspirational themes. He thrives on his ability to create any type of song for his diverse audience. Chris says he draws influence from artists like Eminem, Drake, Travis Scott and Tupac for their influence and strong presence in the music scene.

Music is the one thing that Chris B enjoys, and he sees himself as a musician for many years to come. He hopes to keep winning fans over and impact their lives through his music and lyrics. “Many fans have written to me about how some of my motivational lyrics helped them get through difficult times. Winning the Grammy is one of his ultimate goals, and he sees himself achieving that feat in a few years.
