Dr. Ali Shahbaz Raja pursued his study zealously, earning a BA from Rice University in 1999 and an MD and MBA from Duke University in 2004. From 2005 until 2014, he was a flight surgeon and critical care air transport team commander with the United States Air Force Reserve. Dr. Raja was appointed executive vice chair of the Department of Emergency at Massachusetts General Hospital in 2014 and became the deputy chair of the same department in 2022. Dr. Raja’s research efforts have focused on effectively utilizing emergency department resources, confirming his expertise in the sector.

Among them are the Exemplary Emergency Medicine Attending Award from Brigham and Women’s Hospital Emergency Department Nurses in 2011 and the American College of Healthcare Executives’ Regents Award for Early Career Healthcare Executive in 2014.
