The Sound and the Fury; How Alexander Yearns’ Traversal From Memory to Sound Weaves a Tale of Celebration Through Music

Variations on a Theme of Life

The most significant things in life, so the saying goes, are those that reach beyond the tangible to make contact with a person’s very soul. To some, their purpose in life is like a checklist of goals to achieve; for others, they dream of becoming figureheads, leaders, and icons in history. The pursuit of art is a never-ending process of discovering and reinterpreting the human experience. This herculean task is something Alexander Yearns knows well and deals with on a constant basis as he maneuvers and manipulates soundscapes into one of life’s most ephemeral avenues: music.

A passionate multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and composer from New Jersey, Alexander Yearns discovered his love for music at a tender age. When he found Elvis Presley’s The King of Rock’ N’ Roll: The Complete 50’s Masters CD box set in his uncle’s cellar, he was only seven years old. Intrigued by the collection, Alexander began to listen to the 140 tracks on the five-disc compilation out of sheer curiosity.

He started pursuing a solo career in 2017 by performing some of his early demos at open mic events. A little less than a year later, he had bookings at numerous venues throughout the Tri-state region.

Alexander Yearns’ extraordinary dedication to his art is what distinguishes him as a powerful artist. He has enthralled crowds and audiences and captivated listeners with his deep mastery of music and composing. More than that, it’s his self-reflective style of songwriting, inspired by his experiences, that draws people into his creations.

Since then, he has released songs, including the popular track “You Realize,” which was released in 2020. The singer-songwriter has also written and produced a handful of albums over at Brooklyn, New York’s Strange Weather Recording Studio. The work features “To Each of Us,” his first EP released in October 2018. The five-track EP is an exemplary recording of psychedelic folk-rock influences, with a hypnotic vocal style that persists throughout the experimental and, occasionally, overpowering, melancholy ambiance.

His sophomore album, a full-length LP, is a delightful departure from its predecessor. Taking the mythological reference, “Phoenix” alludes to the musician’s journey as he enters a new phase of his life. The result is a sobering, humbling collection reduced of its much grander accompaniments, letting Alexander Yearns’ impassioned lyricism take the lead.

With the exception of “My Void,” a compilation of his recorded instrumentals throughout his career that is only available on Bandcamp, his entire discography is available for listening on all major digital streaming platforms, including Spotify.

With a vast, colorful discography, hand-in-loving-hand with his artistry and the dedication to put into sound what actions could not hope to fill, Alexander Yearns is ready to enter the mainstream music scene. Fans and music lovers should keep a watch out for the talented young man’s forthcoming ventures as he continues on his journey. He is currently getting ready to record his next body of work, which he plans to release soon.
