LaForge was born in Durham, North Carolina, on April 18, 1950. His academic career took him to Delta State University, where he graduated in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts in History with Honors, setting the stage for his subsequent aspirations. He persisted in his education at the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) in 1975, demonstrating his aptitude for scholarship and commitment to achievement.
