Rebecca’s journey began far from Georgia. Rebecca Davis was born in El Paso, Texas, and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she navigated life in predominantly white communities. Her perspective shifted dramatically when she moved to Richmond, Virginia, for her senior year of high school. “Moving from a city that was 1% Black to the capital of the Confederacy was a wake-up call,” she recalls. “It taught me a lot about identity, resilience, and finding my voice.”

Life quickly turned to survival mode: at 22, she became a single mother to her daughter Maiesha, navigating the challenges of an abusive relationship.
