This holiday season, Kathy Ireland partners up with Emmy Award-winning producer Sam Haskell to bring a remake of the 1971 film Homecoming: A Christmas Story for its 50th anniversary. The Waltons’ Homecoming is the retelling of the American classic film about faith, family, love, and inclusivity. It is executive produced by Sam Haskell, the Chair and President of Magnolia Hill Productions at Warner Bros. And it is with great honor for Kathy Ireland® Worldwide to be the sole presenting sponsor of this film.
“When we began dreaming of what gift we could give virtually to every American family this year…this film became our powerful choice,” said Kathy Ireland, chair, CEO, and Chief Designer of kathy ireland® Worldwide. She said there was no person more appropriate to work on this with other than the legendary and iconic producer Sam Haskell.
The Waltons’ Homecoming stars renowned artists like Bellamy Young, Ben Lawson, and Logan Shroyer. It will be narrated by Richard Thomas, who acted as John Boy in the 1971 version of the film.
With the challenges that came with the past year, Kathy Ireland and Sam Haskell, together with their passion-fueled team, are committed to bringing a program that encourages hope for the people. The film is aired on The CW network on Thanksgiving weekend, November 28, and will have an encore on December 11. It is free and readily available to millions of people.
The brilliant film comes with a stirring rendition of Silent Night, sung by seven-time Grammy Award winners Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr., who play Sister Harriet and Brother William in the film. WaterTower Music released this beautiful and soulful rendition of the famous Christmas Song on November 29.
“For all who experience this treasured film, please know that as Elizabeth Taylor often said, ‘Something wonderful is about to happen,” added Ms. Ireland. With the unfortunate circumstance that the whole world is experiencing today, this movie is the best way to show people how to find a way through hardships with the help of love and family.
Kathy Ireland’s compassion and extraordinarily beautiful heart continues to shine through what she does. Not a lot of people know this, but she serves as the International Chair for the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation (NPCF). Recently, she collaborated with McCoo and Davis Jr. for a holiday vocal performance that serves as a call to action to support the NPCF. Furthermore, kathy ireland® Worldwide makes direct contributions to the foundation on behalf of the partnership.
In 2021, Kathy Ireland continues to be a beacon of hope and excellence. She recently received the Business International Religious Freedom Championship Award from the IRF and the International Home Furnishings Association Icon Award.
