Bubba Dub: How Everything is Coming Together for Texas-Based Comic Artist

The past year has been challenging for everyone because they have had to adjust to a “new normal” and a new way of doing things. Following the outbreak of COVID-19, the world was sent into several phases of lockdowns and restrictions on economic and social lives. The entertainment industry was one of the worst hit, and even to date, the legacies of the restrictions are still felt several months after they were lifted. At the start of the pandemic, Bubba Dub was on course to take over the underground comedy scene in Texas. However, as he made his way up the food chain thanks to his electric stagecraft, he was forced to resort to social media as he had to create and release content from home. Today, his status has shot up beyond his expectation as he has not only grown in popularity across social media platforms but has translated his newfound reality into securing real-life gigs and shows.

Born Jerry Morgan, Bubba Dub, was raised in Alto, Texas (East Texas). Considered a phenom in his own right following several years of perfecting his craft, Bubba started comedy at a young age after realizing he could make people laugh. Throughout his time at Alto High School, Bubba Dub was a household name and considered one of the funniest individuals on campus. By 2018, he scored his first stage performance and hasn’t looked back since then.

Thanks to his East Texas background, Bubba has perfected the use of foul language and his use of adult rated expressions without appearing to be offensive or insensitive to the experience or feeling of anyone in the audience. He is best known for his antics on social media, most notably his “Snitching on Rogers” skits and other storylines on YouTube and Instagram, which has been reposted and recreated by some of pop culture’s biggest names, including Slim Thug, Tekashi69, 50 Cent, Gille, the Kid among others. Although he admits that social media was responsible for his newfound fame and following, he is not getting carried away because his stand-up and improv comedy remain his greatest comedic asset.

Unstoppable during COVID, he scored a cameo appearance in Pop Smoke’s 2020 album, Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon. Bubba is clearly on a mission. Headlining shows in major cities and states, such as Houston, Texarkana, and Louisiana, shows how unstoppable he can be, especially with his comedic ability and delivery power.  He also was a special guest on MTV’s hit show, Ridiculousness.

Aside from reaching the pinnacle of the comedy business within the shortest possible time, appearing in movies, sitcoms, and television series is on his immediate list of aspirations for the next five years. “A Netflix comedy special will also look good on my CV,” he gushed.
